Kim Bennani was born in Tetouan in 1972 in the studio of his famous father, Moa Bennani. He was only 11 years old when he won his first prize at a drawing contest at the Chan Kars International Children’s Competition in New Delhi, India.
No doubts he could not help becoming a talented artist himself. Many would say his talent became evident. Following his studies at Tetouan school of Arts, he flew to Spain in Malaga, hence the Hispanico-Arabic influence in his works.
His realistic works enabled him to distinguish himself from other contemporaries of his and make himself a name. As a matter of fact, he soon gave up with his rigid technique so as to liberate his work. This new train of thought gave birth to peaceful landscapes. The warmth of the yellow color, or on the contrary the shades of different blues, contrast beautifully with the soothing grayness of the background.
By signing an agreement in 2014 with Claude Monet Foundation, Loft gallery has for the first time enabled a Moroccan artist to work in the heart of Giverny’s studios, home to the Master of the impressionist movement.
