Cécile Parent

Of Belgian-Mauritian origin, Cécile Parent was born in 1969 in South Africa and continued her journey to Tunisia, where her work has undeniably been nourished by the shimmering colors and floral and spicy smells of her childhood. Her work, on the ground and with her hands, was undoubtedly inspired by primitive African art.

Cécile Parent's paintings unveil what profoundly touches her. Her artistic expression is the result of these feelings, obtained through her spiritual journey as a woman, mother and wife, as well as through the social and political events that she has been affected by. The essence of her work centers on the magic of the moment, uniting spontaneous movement, vital energy and the psyche to exteriorize, by gesture and emotions. By giving prominence to creative movement, to texture, to material, and to the behaviors of colors, Cécile Parent adopts the artistic attitude of “action painting.

Her paintings, which are many, take the path of lyrical abstraction, arousing feelings, generating ideas and spurring those to come together and dialogue. The magic of emotions is universal and eternal; traversing centuries, continents and cultures. Each painting becomes an area of freedom for which one walks freely and without direction. This universe is for the benefit of the viewer who, if he or she wishes, can immerse their being into the canvas they are contemplating. Between artist and viewer, it creates a personal and privileged, meditative relationship.
