Anna Tedestam

Artist born in Sweden in 1991.Tedestam is a Swedish artist in the experimental sculpture scene with several exhibitions and public commissions. Anna Tedestam plays with performances of gender and what label society place on you. She discusses through juxtaposition: Two things as black and white put closely together, describing a relationship between serious and humorous. Adult and childhood. To be taken seriously and to be depreciated. She portraits things far away from each other merged into one. Through a flow of emotions she digs for symbols in the clay to transform feelings into shapes. Tedestam also have an interest in the abandonment of materials and dissolved sensory places. By re-inventing form or function, she creates alternative worlds. The bustling organic expression is important just as the structures and free forms, but also the recognizable. History can be found in the details, and is a reward to the observer. The sculptures range from imaginative underwater worlds to buildings with inside or outside perspective while her painting can be interpreted as fragments of monumental places. She’s searching for something that reminds her of something else.
