Simone Monney

Simone was born in Zurich, Switzerland, and grew up in Bern. Today she has her workshop in Gland in the canton of Vaud.

Simone is a self-taught painter and works on different media such as canvas for her painting, as well as plexiglass and aluminum for these mixed media creations. Spontaneity and momentum of gesture are the basis of these creations, a kind of staging of lyrical expressions.

Beyond a meditative serenity, Simone develops her paintings as a musical composition. Touches free of colors, unpredictable lines of light, allow to perceive a delicate interiority as well as a real vitality. Swarms of butterflies twirl, a whirlwind of shapes, birds and colors burst into a sheaf of freshness. Lastly, the overall look tells us that finally everything is in its right place for the simple pleasure of the eyes.

In her last series "Eclats de liberté" on plexiglas and aluminum, Simone expresses her vivacity of the whimsical spirit, the joy of her urban discoveries, her winks to childhood and adolescence, two stages of life still very present in it... Mythical characters of cartoons, movie stars, cult symbols of big cities, become for her the support of an incredibly diversified pallet in colors and techniques. His training in graphic-designer allows him to harmoniously mix his painting and the photo in a beautiful and facetious harmony. The artist tells and narrates, enlightens the heart of the subject, paints the cities by going as far as their bowels; you can touch the excitement of the streets, the tumult of the crowd, discern the labyrinth of buildings - but its spaces of silence too. And finally give a touch of irony or just humor...

This vision, which enchants the eyes, allowed Simone to be solicited outside Switzerland and to successfully exhibit her works in several big cities like New York, Dubai, Miami, Paris etc, because they reflect an obvious universality, where everyone can find his artistic vibration.
