Presentation

Swiss painter born in 1913 in Saint Gall. His family moved to Zurich in 1915 where the artist lived until 1946. He completed his schooling there, then from 1928 to 1931 an apprenticeship as a stylist and designer of fashion catalogs.

In 1934 he married Ria Wedeking who gave him four children and who died in 2014 at the age of 99.

From 1931 to 1950, and under his real name, he created around 200 posters which earned him international fame at the time when Swiss posters were among the most creative in the world.

In 1945 Victor Ruzo moved to Vevey where he was Le Corbusier's neighbor.

In 1949 he went to the Côte d'Azur, and on August 2 of that same year, he received a visit from Pablo Picasso. This stay was very fruitful for the artist since Sir Winston Churchill made contact with him and the American patron Florence Gould, owner of a fabulous collection, offered to take care of the promotion of his works. But Victor Ruzo prefers to return to Switzerland where he undertakes his famous "turning table" on which he worked for fifteen years.

In 1956 appeared in New York a book on Ruzo written by LP Kuperman.

He died in 2008 in the Canton of Vaud.
