Presentation

Dickens studied at the Slade School of Fine Art (UCL), graduating in 2000 with a master's degree in Fine Art Painting. Since that time, she has been an independent professional artist and worked part-time as a visiting lecturer on numerous Fine Art courses around the UK. Since 2013, she is Lecturer in Painting at Lancaster University.


Pip Dickens was shortlisted for the NatWest Art Prize in 1997 and was the recipient of the Jeremy Cubitt Prize (Slade School of Fine Art). She also won the Edna Lumb Art Travel Prize in 1995, where she travelled to Iceland. She was a nominee for the Jerwood Contemporary Painters 2009 and shortlisted for the Celeste Painting Prize in 2014. She was Leverhulme Trust Award Artist in Residence (2010-2011) undertaking reserch in Kyoto, Japan, which resultat in her co-authored book "Shibusa Extracting Beauty" by Pip Dickens and Prof. Monty Adkins. Over the last 14 years, Dickens had numerous solo exhibitions in the UK and in the USA. Her work is held in various international public and private collections.


Pip Dickens was born in Fiskerton-cum-Morton, Nottinghamshire, UK, in 1962. Currently, she lives and works in Lancaster, UK.
