JULIAN STANCZAK (1928-2017) A student of Josef Albers and one of the leaders of the Op Art Movement, Stanczak was included in the Museum of Modern Art's 1965 exhibition, The Responsive Eye, which also featured works by Bridget Riley, Gunter Uecker, and Victor Vasarely. The ability to set up strong interactions of color, line, form and space afforded Stanczak the power to establish internal dynamics in his two-dimensional surfaces that in turn generate visual energy and elegance. Stanczak's ability to deal with these basic visual activities enabled him to produce highly sensitive surfaces that induced various perceptual effects such as vibrations and after-images.
