Artist Statement:

I am Alexandra Romano, an artist living and working in Toronto, Canada. My passion is creating art with bold colour schemes, vibrant paintings that stand out as a focal point in any room, a conversation starter.

I am an abstract artist who enjoys the freedom of abstraction and the ability to explore impressionism and expressionism. My work is often inspired by nature, geometric elements, and the world around me. Acrylics and oils are among my favorite media, but I also enjoy using inks, spray paint, and other mediums.

While creating my paintings, I use an intuitive, natural approach.
In order to create interesting depth and a truly original design, I craftily use unorthodox tools and my signature techniques. Observing each piece come to life, layer by layer is my meditation. It is a joy to experiment and be present throughout the entire process.

Artistic Influences:

My dad. He always had a creative, artistic mind. I still have one beautiful piece we did when I was 10 years old. He taught me certain painting techniques and always inspired me to grow in sketching and painting for myself. He is an amazing artist, illustrator and is currently a graphic designer. To this day; we collaborate by sketching amazing furniture designs that we want to bring to life, and we still have creative brainstorming sessions. He has had a big impact on my life and is tremendously supportive of my passion to create. He specializes in impressionism, realism, illustrations, and graphic design. I was personally inspired by the abstract expressionism style because I love the freedom of abstraction, it's a cathartic release; allowing me to express my emotions at the time of creation.
