Jayet by Laurent Delsol

The Parisian Art & Sound gallery comes out of the woods. A Bear licks his window. This is the first edition of a series of resin sculptures, a splendid silver and blue two-sided piece. The style is inspired by the Pop'art period, and a mix of Kitsch and Whatelse. The creation is playful and contemporary, like its creator Jayet.

Who are you Jayet?

I am a young artist who emancipates himself late. All my life the ideas of creation have jostled in my head. I materialized them in different forms, notably in aviation, audiovisual. Today it is a new chapter of my life that I am writing, or rather that I am sculpting.

Why a bear?

The Bear is a childhood dream, everyone had one, plush, just like me. he was helping me fall asleep, I ate his ear. It is a Proust madeleine. And then, I devoured the chocolate bears, just like the Haribo bears and besides, I'm still addicted to them. And then one day in a museum, I meet the most beautiful bear in the world, the Pompon bear. I stood staring at it, devouring it with my eyes, deciphering it for 3 or 4 hours. On the plate, admiringly, I discovered the name of this brilliant sculptor who knew how to designate this beast by rounding the shapes and drawing on the lines. He inspired me and I too will have Mons bear.

Why the name “jayet bear”?

Because that's my name and I think it's pretty for a bear. Then it's up to its owner to offer it a name, as we do for a child.

How does it give him a first name?

Each owner will be able to baptize their bear for life using an application on which they will register their serial number, which will make them unique, numbered and tamper-proof. By this gesture the owner baptizes it and connects to the work for life. You save it with a first name like for a smartphone, with perhaps the first name that you did not have and that you would have dreamed of having or of the person to whom you want to give it.

How is it a sculpture in its own right?

During my studies, I cut stone with hammer, punches, pointed scissors and steps, I was not very talented but I remained passionate about the transformation of matter. Today I use modern techniques similar to those used by Jeff Koons and Richard Orlinski. I draw, then I polish with designers and graphic artists, specialists in 3D resin and painters.

There are a lot of meetings, exchanges and work. To turn the idea into action, a large team is needed. And it should expand because I also intend to make stone bears in bronze stainless steel and even holograms.

Why 2 sides?

2 sides for 2 different attitudes. The first side represents my attitude, the second is that of José Garcia only for this first series.

We are 2 bears well licked. For the next series, I hope to do the next one with Hugh Jakman who is a bear in another style.

In addition, personalized bears have already been ordered, mini-series for a family. But it will also be possible to order unique pieces, for collectors who would like their own attitude. You need a pretty marked attitude like a grimace or an accessory like a pair of glasses, a mask, a cigar and you are sculpted on one of the two sides. your bear is personalized and unique.

In the end there are bears from 25 centimeters to 2 meters in a variety of monochrome and two-tone colors.
