Presentation

Yann Masseyeff is a French sculptor and ceramist.

Born in Dakar, of a Vietnamese mother and a Russian father, he has always traveled a lot and has been nourished by the richness brought to him by this multitude of cultural influences.

Young, he was introduced to drawing and very quickly turned to ceramics. It was thanks to an encounter with the artist Pascal Lacroix who taught him how to turn porcelain, to master complex techniques such as reduction or enamels from the Far East.

But what thrills Yann Masseyeff is the emotion conveyed by the materials and textures. Reminiscences of ancestral and tribal forms inhabit it and nourish its gestures. So he models the earth, with his intuition, creates an almost primary dialogue with his sculptures and makes his creative energy resonate in them.

He sculpts and models sandstone amulets all in unique pieces. He assembles them, composes them, humanizes them and transmits all his sensitivity to them. He thus reveals to us his way of perceiving the world.
