Born in Bourgoin-Jallieu on January 19, 1978, Gilbert Frizon met the stone at age 20, shortening his studies of philosophy to train in the restoration of heritage and sculpture statuary. Since 2004, he works in Culin (Isère), develops his personal creation and participates in exhibitions and international symposiums, his works are visible in France, Switzerland, Russia, DR Congo ...
He weaves ever closer ties with the mineral, frees himself from the notions of gravity and inertia attributed to him, understands that matter is dynamic, living, it is energy. His sculptures are pieces of planet, universe snapshots; they render perceptible the phenomena whose laws we undergo, but which escape our consciousness.
Gilbert proposes sensibility and intuition as a path to knowledge.
To make the choice of the stone today is for me to make the choice of the universal history, it is to free me from the cleavages of the art, to exceed the modes and the formalisms.
