Presentation

Passionate about painting, Séverine Solcourt decided to start studying applied arts in Paris, and specialized in interior architecture. She then moved to Rome where she joined the Academy of Fine Arts to do a Masters Degree in graphic design.
She lived ten years in Italy, a time during which she combine interior architecture, drawing, graphic design, set design and illustration. She then returned to Paris after deciding to join her family in Ile de Ré. There, the memories of her chilhood influenced her to come back to her first passion: Painting.

Séverine Solcourt creates numerous portraits of famous personages such as Audrey Hepburn, Steve McQueen, Jim Morrison, James Dean, Madonna, David Bowie, John Lenon and Serge Gainsbbourg her absolute idol.

Color plays a major role in her work because it allows her to transcribe the energy of each artist in her paintings. Bright and vivid colors for the protray of Bowie, a little bit more blue for Gainsbourg.
Séverine Solcourt gets inspired by artists that she works with. In order to know their character better, she hears their music, watch their films ..... all while painting them! She then completes her pieces using a knife.

The portraits and the bright colors that dominate her work are reminiscent of Warhol's work. However, her style does not resemble Pop Art.

Séverine Solcourt opened a gallery in Saint Martin and has exhibited her work in France and Europe.
