Presentation

Alix Colmant, aka Alixire, was born a stone's throw from Paris but grew up in the Charente countryside.

She remembers that at the age of 5, she already said that she wanted to be a painter. She remembers how difficult it was to express this to adults. On one occasion, she was told that it was too difficult a profession for a woman, until she realized that the other person meant a painter. Another time, she was told "singer" and had to specify "painter", a term she found too pompous...

At 11 years old, she joined Paris with a torn heart.

At 17, she entered an art school where she learned to master many artistic techniques. She continued her studies at the university to obtain a degree in plastic arts.

Her professional career began in editorial graphics. But she missed the countryside too much and moved to a village in the Cevennes region where she created drawings, paintings, sculptures and photos. But her creations remain confidential, only her family and a small circle of friends and admirers can discover them. Because Alixire does not feel ready to share her work with a large public.

Demanding and perfectionist, she will regularly complete her knowledge by continuing to train. At the age of 40, she completes her university studies with a master's degree in plastic arts which allows her to better theorize her artistic work. She also teaches plastic arts to different audiences.

At the same time, she continues her artistic research in the fields of photography, video, plant art, sculpture and drawing that she will never lose sight of.

In 2009, she leaves her isolation with an exhibition at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Gaillac on her master's degree subject: the relationship between nature and culture, where she presents photos, installations, video and sculptures.

Then, she has a series of exhibitions where she presents photos, sculptures and installations that question the nature being as well as Land-Art performances that question the artialisation of the landscape.

In 2012, an exhibition at the Chateau d'Assas that addresses the question of the feminine gives her the opportunity to reintegrate drawing into her path of monstration.

Since then, she has pursued her artistic path by exploring various facets of drawing through multiple techniques and multiple media: with pencil, pen, ballpoint pen, ink, felt-tip pen; on paper, on canvas, on textile, on wood, on volume or on grass. Alixire retraces dreamlike universes where the fantastic rubs shoulders with the real, declining to infinity the volute like an artistic signature.

She is also attached to the other in his irreducible otherness. For her, the portrait lives in the depths of faces and bodies. It is this intimacy that makes it precious to her.

As an awake and demanding being, reinventing herself in each act of creation, Alixire tends towards her absolute: the artistic emotion.
