This artwork depicts the front of an old Citroën 2CV, beautifully worn by time, a legendary car if ever there was one! The bodywork displays a rich patina of rust, testifying to years of exposure to the elements. In the center, the grille is stripped down, symbolizing a nostalgic and raw beauty. The license plate, partially faded, displays black and white numbers and letters, adding a historical and mystical dimension to the image. The shades of yellow and rusty brown combine to create a natural and captivating visual palette. This work subtly captures beauty in decadence, evoking a reflection on the transience of human engineering in the face of nature. Through its detailed composition and aged texture, it draws the eye and encourages analysis. A celebration of industrial aesthetics and the inexorable passage of time.
The author speaks of his series as follows:
In "ecological" scrapyards, on the edge of forests or inside old sheds, these now inert carcasses, abandoned to nature and time, offer us a paradoxically vivid spectacle of symbols of power relegated to the rank of immobile sculpture in transformation, which perhaps makes them more dazzling than in the past. I like to think that their scattered pieces will be recovered, the aluminum which, once recycled, will then serve as a support for my author's proofs that I present to you in this exhibition.
The advantage of anodized aluminum, besides its softness to the touch and to the eye, is that it makes the perception of the image different depending on the viewing angle (by semi-specular reflection), thus offering the last sparkle to these machines of the past.
These photographs are a testimony and a final (?) tribute to these automobiles which were part of my freedom as a young adult.
