Bin Zhang

She paints a closed world from the inside, a solitary world where only women are represented alone or accompanied by animals. She can go from apparent sadness to humor, from suffering to gentleness. She reinterprets fairy tales with a delicate aestheticism She takes us into her world of reverie imbued with a certain nostalgia. She puts her dreams and anxieties there. She escapes! She was born in 1983. Coming from a Catholic family of seven daughters and coming from the Chinese border, she spent all her childhood observing her sisters: their dreams and their states of mind. It is from her family environment that she draws inspiration for her works. Because of her sensitivity, in China she is nicknamed 'the princess with the pea' Zhang Bin graduated from Xu Beihong University of the Arts. She lives and works in Beijing, China.
