Presentation
Nathalie Lemaître has invented a very personal style based on collages of paper - pages of books or newspapers - which create the framework, the deep texture of her canvases, over which she brings her characters to life. She paints in large, generous strokes, alternating transparencies, sweeps and more opaque colors which here and there reveal images or printed letters. They are canvases in very warm and bright colors, symphonies of red and orange available throughout the range. The faces have amber tones, illuminated from within, the electric blues in counterpoint and the pure whites give a particular radiance, a strange and warm atmosphere to his paintings. All the light comes from the characters themselves, from their illuminated faces, from the whiteness of the pages of books opened in their hands, a revisited version of Chardin's chiaroscuro. Nathalie Lemaître continues her journey with happiness, and from exhibition to exhibition multiplies the number of her collectors in France and abroad.
