Presentation

Rebecca was born on February 1, 1969 in Aix en Provence.

She is the daughter of the writer Françoise Lefèvre and the painter Raya Sorkine.

When her parents separated Rebecca was barely a year old.

His mother raises him alone, with his older sister Olivia.

Rebecca grew up in Paris, Rue vielle du Temple (3eme arrd), Rue Leriche and Rue Lacretelle (15eme arrd), before moving to the Essonne department in Auvers-Saint-Georges, then in 1978 in Burgundy near Dijon.

At 16, Rebecca took the entrance exam to the conservatory of dramatic art in Dijon to become an actress, she stayed there for two years and at the same time followed theater classes at the Parvis Saint-Jean. But Rebecca is not at ease in this discipline, she leaves the conservatory and returns to the Beaux-Arts of Beaune where she hopes to blossom in her true passion, painting. It's a disappointment, the teachers don't encourage her, she won't graduate.

She decides to focus on qualifying training provided by craftsmen, and will pass a competition for a painting-wood sculpture ornamentation training in Beaune that she will obtain. She will learn traditional techniques such as tempera painting, wax painting. Then two years will follow or she will resume drawing on a living model as a free candidate for the fine arts of Dijon.

In 1992 she discovers mosaic, the materials and the technique will seduce her, she is captivated by the colors of the glass enamels, it will be her favorite material. For twenty years she will compose all kinds of decorations working in collaboration with tiling shops in Paris, architects and interior designers who will present her unique creations to their clients.

In 1999 she obtained the honorary vocation prize from the Fondation de France for her mosaic creations, which enabled her to continue her original research.

In 2005 Rebecca decides to take over the brushes, her painting is then figurative.

In 2010 she left Burgundy to settle in Marseille.

The South will bring her new inspirations, she experiments with different pictorial universes such as cubism.

Passage to abstraction

His overflowing curiosity for matter and colors, his need to go beyond his limits, and his ability to question himself will gradually orient him towards lyrical abstract expressionism.

This passage towards abstraction will fulfill all her expectations, she feels liberated.

Rebecca, who is a born colorist, is going to have a lot of fun.

It is a meeting in 2020 with the one who will become his agent Arry Bennatia who will encourage him to assert himself in this direction.

Lyrical abstraction is movement, body language and the energy of the moment thanks to which we can create.

"Energy is the engine"

Rebecca constructs her paintings intuitively, her emotions are expressed directly on the canvas in a spontaneous way by pouring the paint or by projecting it. We give the term "Dripping" These canvases are made in both vertical and horizontal positions. Rebecca realizes her paintings on free canvas in order to keep total freedom in movement.
