Élisée Maclet

Élisée Maclet, born April 12, 1881 in Lihons (Somme), and died in Paris on August 23, 1962, is a French painter.

The beginnings in Paris:

In 1906, he left his Picardy for the first time to join Paris and Montmartre in 1906. He then stayed at the Fleuri hotel, rue de Chartres and nearby soup at the Beauvais tavern. He made his debut there by painting iron beds at Favart, rue Saint Germain, modestly and humbly, without having the pretension of young painters eager to gain fame. Then he worked as a decorator at the Moulin Rouge with the support of his machinist friend Girard. He is even initiated into dance so that he can serve as a substitute. Maclet exercised many small trades, testimonies of his modest personality contrasting by this character trait with many of his fellow painters and friends.

At that time, he was the first to paint Montmartre with other Impressionist techniques, inventing a style that would inspire other painters who had become more famous.
