Gérard Singer (1929-2007) is a French painter and sculptor. He studies at the Grande-Chaumière School in Paris after 1945. His career will follow the evolution of the artistic society. In the fifties he is involved into figurative socialist political painting, then in 1961 with the Paris Biennale he paints abstract paintings, with mixed media ; sand, vinavyle, oil on canvas ; in an avant-garde urbanistic spirit. In 1982, he is obtaining a research scholarship and in 1985 he presents at the Chicago Graham Foundation Art with computer works, thus becoming one pioneer of digital art. From 1963 until 1996 Galerie Jeanne-BUCHER with Jean-François JAEGER, Paris, shows his art. In the 70's he is experimenting industrial media like thermoforming process like his friends KOWALSKI and DUBUFFET, or Philippe SCRIVE and Boris TABACOFF. Thanks to the 1% and urbanistic developments SINGER, like Philippe SCRIVE and Blaise SIMON, is developing sculptures and spaces. From 1981 until 1991 he is Professor at Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris. 

In 2019 thanks to the right of preemption, during the Le Fur Auctions in Drouot, Beaubourg Centre Pompidou Museum, Paris, does not allow the selling of Gerard SINGER studio for very low prices and acquires 14 works by the artist, now, part of the museum collection. The urban painting "Champs et Fleuves" "Fields and Rivers" painted in 1961 with mixed media, vinavyle, sand and oil on canvas is now part of Beaubourg Centre Pompidou collection, Paris.
