Antony Gormley is a British sculptor born in London, England, 1950.

He studied at Cambridge's Trinity College where he obtained a degree in Architecture, Anthropology, and Art History. He later decided to travel to India; only three years later did he return and continue his university career at the Central School of Art, Goldsmiths College, and Slade School of Art.

Antony Gormley is a sculptor of the flesh. Through his tools, he magnifies the human body, exploring it down to the smallest details. The body is a medium of life and supports the individual in his evolution. It is the incandescence of our status as a living being and testifies to our passage on Earth. In this sense, the body participates in the collective memory. To freeze the being in its carnal state by means of sculpture amounts to recalling the memory of its existence, to rekindling its flame.

Undoubtedly recognized and respected on the international scene, Antony Gormley is one of the greatest contemporary sculptors of our time. For several years, he has been particularly interested in the relationship between the individual and the entourage and deals with this subject with large-scale works.

Along with his personal artistic production, Antony Gormley works with both public and private actors. In 1994, he was notably in charge of designing a place in the city of Rennes. He is the producer of Britain's largest sculptures, including Angel of the North - his most famous work being over 54 meters long - and Quantum Cloud with a height of 30 meters.

Antony Gormley's works are present in the permanent collections of the greatest European museums, notably the Center Pompidou, the Tate Gallery, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. He participated in the Venice Biennale. In 1994, he received the Turner Prize. He became a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 1997 and is also an Honorable Member of Trinity College Cambridge, the Royal Institute of British Architects, and Jesus College Cambridge.
