In Antimetrica, two artistic duos—Sasho Stoitsov & Rositsa Getsova and Sebastian Quick & Antoaneta Quick—present collaborative works that explore the tension between nature and human intervention, resilience and decay.
Antimetric stands in contrast to symmetric—a system of elements that are neither identical nor mirrored but deliberately divergent, asymmetrical, sometimes chaotic. In an artistic context, it signifies a rejection of singular meaning and the creation of dynamic relationships between physicalness and concept.
The two art duos incorporate antimetrics into their very collaboration. At times, their works merge into cohesive ensembles; at others, they sharply diverge, emphasizing the individuality of their artistic pursuits. In this exhibition, balance is both harmony and tension.
Through striking collages and assemblages, Antoaneta and Sebastian Quick reverse the lens inward, allowing nature to witness the human experience in its effort to reclaim organic origins amid the harshness of urban life. While Rositsa Getsova employs recurring translucent elements to visualize the environment’s impact on perception, Sasho Stoitsov, with Scattered Beads, canonizes the ecological crisis, continuing his longstanding engagement with socially significant themes.
Using found objects, unconventional materials, and experimental forms, Antimetrica examines the breakdown of symmetry in both nature and society.
