Le Réservoir.
Jacques à dit
From December 12, 2023 to February 29, 2024
Of Belgian-Uruguayan nationality, I was born in Brussels in 1984. 1994, I was ten years old, without a camera, only my hands as a frame.
Framing what I like, what I notice, with my thumbs and index fingers. Frame so as not to forget what happened at that moment.
These are my first “images".
It was also at this time that I discovered humanist photographers.
At home it was not uncommon to see images of Doisneau, Salgado, Erwitt, Capa, etc. passing by.
I can look at a photograph for a very long time, thinking about it again and again, a kind of intimate relationship devoid of words. From that time on, I considered that photography is a poem committed to a defined framework of shapes, nuances and a sensitive semantics of its own.
At eleven years old, I received my first device. A Pentax; a companion who will accompany me for ten years.
At fourteen, I set up my first film laboratory in a damp and dusty cellar in Brussels. I remember great moments of wonder.
This passion will lead me to join the École Nationale Supérieure Audiovisuelle La Cambre. Although interspersed with several periods in Montevideo, I spent most of my life in Brussels until 2007. I then lived in the Luberon (84) where I worked as a production assistant. Since 2011, I have lived and worked mainly in Avignon.
