

Biography
Deng Chol is a South Sudanese painter born in 1982. He began to occupy himself with art in his childhood. From 1999 he regularly attended art courses at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Helwan University in Cairo, Egypt. Deng also received a Bachelor of Science degree from Al Mergeb University in Khoms, Libya in 2006.
Deng draws his artistic inspiration from the ancient history, traditions and heritage of local Sudanese, African and global communities. His creations revolve around themes of human activity, faith, mythology and human values. His style is mostly a unique contemporary African abstractism. His paintings are rich in texture, patterns and mixed techniques. He is co-founder of ANATABAN and Studio One in Juba, Southern Sudan.
Deng Chol currently lives and works in Nairobi and is a member of the Kobo Trust Art Center.
