In some portraits, it is the development process that configures what will be rescued from the image and dragged into the depths. In others, there is only the record of what one day was and is no longer there.

The disappearance of the species, the destruction of ecosystems, the fading of memories, and the anxiety of survival are recurring themes in the work of Mercedes Cosano, who transposes them into her works, often through complicated processes, in a poetic, delicate way.
