As curators, artists and art appreciators, we are often asked to balance aesthetics with weighty subject matter. We know exploring human impact on environment and how we can enact change is critical to our collective futures but we still innately gravitate to aesthetically pleasing subject matter.
How can we balance aesthetics and communication? How can we use beauty as a means of transmitting serious messages?
This exhibition explores the possibility of speaking to our tenuous environmental times through visually engaging imagery that inspires a positive path forward. The five female artists showcased use their art to connect us to important environmental topics. Each has her own inspiration and visual communication method; all seek to convey the importance of protecting our planet.
Featured Artists: Dyanna Dimick, Karen Olsen Dunn, Dena Robertson, Anna Rotty, Zelda Zinn.
