Anna Wardega-Czaja. Paintings and drawings
Varsovie From October 27, 2022 to November 30, 2022
An attempt is made here to describe the relationship between the individual and the community. The characters are clustered in crowds; However, they maintain their individual features, unlike in the crowds of Abakanowicz or Szajna, where the collective becomes a synonym of perdition.
In Anna`s paintings, the private sphere merges and penetrates with the common one. This is how the fragments of the urban space become present, too. The artist`s vision derives from the reality, but it is a bit exaggerated. However, in each of the persons shown on the canvases, the postulate of separateness and self-determination is very effectively implemented.
Simply put, it is an expression of identity that breaks out of the rhythm set by the crowd.
The attentiveness with which the young artist looks at people is a value in itself. Each and every one of them becomes the protagonist of the painting. In this sense, the author ennobles the ordinary, creating a collective, human portrait with passion and tenderness.
