Mini Biography

The Duas Marias Collective was born in Cascavel, Brazil, in 2012, by the artists Malu Rebelato (born on 10/25/1969 in Tangará-SC, Brazil) and Nani Nogara (born on 02/03/1957 in Horizontina-RS, Brazil), both graduate and postgraduate in Visual Arts.

The Collective's concept of work refers to the expanded field of contemporary art and its multiplicities. The artists transcend formal areas, work with photos/performances and navigate symbolic circuits promoting hybridity between ecology and visual art, poetry and video, sculpture and theater. The partnership between them was born during the art college in Cascavel. It later enhanced a repertoire inspired by the feminine and its socio-political-cultural aspects. (Leonor Amarante)

Mini Resume

The Duas Marias Collective has had exhibits in Museums and Salons in Brazil and abroad, including "If it were you..." at the Itaipu-Foz do Iguaçu Ecomuseum/2015 and several exhibitions in other Brazilian states. They participated in numerous exhibitions, receiving an acquisition award at the 6th SAV in Vinhedo-SP/2014 and an acquisition award at the 21 Cascavelense Fine Arts Exhibition/2019. In 2014, they were in an artistic residency at Casa Museu Maurício Penha in Portugal, which resulted in a travelling exhibition in the region in 2015. In addition, they participated in the Curitiba Biennials 2015, 2017 and 2019 and the Black Art Without Borders Biennial 2020. Outstanding Award 2017, granted by FEBACLA. In 2018, the Medal of Cultural Merit, by the Medalhistic Academy of Brazil. Its exhibition project "Forjada Pelo Tempo" was approved by PROFICE-2020 and recently received sponsorship from Copel and HAVAN, to be held in 2022. in Maringá in August, and the third will be at the Curitiba Biennial 2023.
