Born in 1983 in Santiago, Chile, Javier Toro Blum studied psychology, art and sculpture in Santiago then in New York and London (Royal College of Art). Javier Toro Blum creates luminous structures. He creates light boxes in which a lighting system is integrated. The latter is placed behind an opaque film of geometric shape (rectangle, round, etc.). Thus the light creates an aura around the form.
The surface that hides the light becomes a shimmering surface. "The importance of reflection does not only appear as an element that integrates architecture into the object, but also a way of making an object subjective, since it is able to include the different social dynamics generated by a context exhibition." Javier Toro Blum's works are concerned with the subjective qualities of formal art, with the aim of highlighting the "communicative components of a type of art that is generally linked to ideas of rationalism and neutral expressiveness. »
