Sylvie.C and her " Strip Art ".

Her approach...With her " Strip Art ", she brings a renewal to the traditional pop art collages, a touch of freshness. Her favorite subjects are the icons of the world of music, cinema, art and fashion. The look she has on her subjects is tender and generous, like her.  

She works graphically on her iconic photograph, which she then partially covers with a photograph cut into braided strips, like a rich and colorful mosaic. This two-level case is framed in an original creation in painted metal which makes it a very design object. The finished work allows him to protect the soul of his icon, to preserve the mystery, to reveal the charismatic and timeless character.

His work...

Her creative work begins with a search for information about her character. She will read and watch interviews with icons who fascinate her, trying to approach them in an intimate way, to capture their essence and their fragility. She will then look for materials, textures and colors that she will photograph in nature or during her walks in town. 

From these photographs will be born the tools of her artistic language. The graphic creation of the iconic image will then be partially covered with dozens of strips of photo paper cut with a cutter, then woven one by one. The long work of cutting and pasting will create a depth, a doubling in our vision of the image of the represented character. It is this interlaced and superimposed vision of "Strip Art" as she defines it, which constitutes her unique and inimitable touch.
