Gaëlle Simon

Little genius, the young Gaëlle Simon stands out as one of the revelations of the new photography. She is part of this generation who grew up with digital and gives photography a new life. Her eye is her goal and the material does not matter: big devices like discreet smartphone: for her it's with everything you can photograph. She puts on life a discreet and benevolent eye, finding the light where everything is gray. In these difficult times, she captures the joy that remains, the present that gives balm to the heart, the sweet folly of life. His art is tinged with the melancholy of a disappointing but surprising present: everyday scenes find their lost poetry. Through his work, we reflect on the joy of Jacques-Henri Lartigue, at the discretion of Saul Leiter and the humor of Eliott Erwitt. His portrait The Kiss (2016) goes around the world. Photography whose timeless aestheticism refers to a contemporary feeling: the melancholy of missed appointments, in a virtual rather than a real life. At 20, she was spotted by Irina Brook and photographed the life and rehearsals of the National Theater in Nice for five years. 

In 2017, she leaves alone, backpack and shoulder device, make a tour of France funded by drawing the portrait of people crossed on the way. She took the opportunity to hide in several cities of France her "very little love stories", a spontaneous exhibition created from three times nothing (paper, glue and scissors) in order to offer photographic art to those who do not go to galleries. This project goes around France (Paris, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Montpellier, Lyon, Nice) and also exports to Canada, Quebec City and Montreal. 

In 2019, his work takes on a greater dimension with the Boum Boum exhibition at the Martin Sauvage Gallery. After a year of introspective work, she and her friend painter Ja reveal the results of a year in search of oneself. This diptych photography-text exhibition marks the beginning of a new spiritual and artistic adventure.
