Loïc Jean-Loup Flament is a French photographer born November 1, 1973 in the Paris region. After studying biochemistry, at the age of 21 he devoted himself to photography. Very influenced by the fantastic cinema, Loïc researches various silver techniques of overprinting or long exposure allowing him to explore and construct a chimerical and poetic image. He assists several fashion photographers and learns studio lighting techniques. At the same time, he trained as a sniper-filter and completed this training with evening classes at the Beaux-Arts in Paris. After his first publication in 1998 in the magazine Jeunes Créateurs, he collaborated on visuals for record covers with singers and rock groups. It is also published in fashion magazines like FaceFull, Appart Mag, D-Side. In 2011, he produced “capsules”, very “Arty” videos for an electronic magazine BuyBuy. He wrote and directed his first short film "Pleasure of nonsense" selected for the short film corner of the Cannes festival in 2010, then a second of 10 min, "l'Orgone" in 2012. In 2014, he took back his 35mm film camera, the images he captures in black and white are produced mainly in street photography. This new photographic approach frees him from a digital post production that he considers too present. Always in a quest for a fantasized visual, practicing “Street Photography” forces Loïc to play with everyday elements and situations. The prints produced in a darkroom on silver baryta support (analog laboratory technique), seem to be the result of digital transformation. However, it is not, and a strange feeling appears upon discovering these chimerical images, the result of another reality appearing on a so-called traditional medium. His artistic approach then raises questions about the world around us. He not only makes us react to the different proposals offered by an apparently ordinary reality, he exposes us his surrealist vision that he has captured in our daily life and proves to us that it is possible for us to open up other perspectives. Today, he continues his research and regularly exhibits his work.
