Presentation

Juliette Leperlier, born in 1984, did not arrive at glass paste by chance, we can speak of heritage, of family tradition. His great-grandfather François Décorchemont developed this lost wax casting technique at the beginning of the 20th century. His father Etienne Leperlier and his uncle Antoine continued research on this material, the medium of their art.

She had, so to speak, all the elements in hand to continue this artistic adventure. But she didn't want it to be the material that chose her, but on the contrary that it was she who decided to tame it. Juliette studied applied arts in sculpture at ENSAAMA (Olivier de Serres - Paris) to discover other techniques, other materials and thus move away from the family heritage.

Not having found the medium that could have corresponded to her expectations of expression, she continued her research at the Sorbonne in plastic arts. Where she developed a personal practice mixing glass sculpture and photography. At the end of her Masters, she chose not to return to glass paste, but to begin a new exploration of matter, pushing back the limits of creation.

For her, glass paste is the synthesis of different artisanal and artistic techniques calling on many skills, sculpture, molding, glassmaking, foundry, cutting, polishing but also chemical and physical knowledge of glass. It is a work of anticipation and projection from one subject to another, which is enriched by practicing it.

In 2014, she took over her father's workshop, to devote herself fully to her creation and became the winner of the regional prize of the Ateliers d'Art de France.
