Fabien Chalon

Fabien Chalon's sculptures are generally qualified as “intimate sculptures”. They are part of the artist's approach to reflection on the relationship between man and space-time and the consequences, both philosophical and metaphysical, of each person's perception of the lived instant. For him, it is a question of imagining and conceiving “sculpture-events” which are never fixed or definitive points as in classical sculpture, but rather constantly engaged with the movement of the imaginary process. Fabien Chalon's sculptures highlight the idea that time is a reality constrained in the moment and suspended between two nothingness. How many people have not said after seeing one of his works: "I have come back from afar". Thus, Fabien Chalon has become over the years an artist both intimate and instant. By putting himself at the service of the poetic diversion of the object, he brings us to moments of disjunction, to sacred moments, to this ultimate point where reality is diluted in surprise and wonder. Human size for the most part, an ideal format for an intimate dialogue with the viewer, some of his works sometimes reach monumental dimensions. In 2008, the monumental sculpture “Le Monde en Marche” commissioned by the State was installed in the center of the Gare du Nord. This work has greatly contributed to making Fabien Chalon known to the general public. Its spectacular and celestial appearance has made it an essential point of the station. In 2010, the Hermès house chose to join forces with Fabien Chalon by offering to design a traveling exhibition that will travel the world until the end of 2013.
