One of the best cartoonists in France, Eric Bourgier is the author, along with screenwriter Fabrice David, of the cult series Servitude, the sixth - and last of which! - volume comes out on October 28th. One of the rare contemporary authors to work in large format and in direct colors (he does both drawing and color without going through a colorist), Éric Bourgier restores all the richness of an excavated universe and of great beauty, governed by political intrigues as complex as in Game of Thrones, the famous literary saga of George RR Martin. He particularly excels in the strength and character of the rendering of landscapes, limiting each volume within a well-defined chromatic range. For this retrospective, the approach is to put Eric Bourgier's universe in perspective with the recent science fiction works of Christophe Charbonnel, as a kind of confrontation between the plastic and suggestive forces of these two artists. Focused on the major major themes of science fiction: space travel, artificial intelligence, human modifications (eugenics, genetic modifications, implants ...), works inspired by the great novels of SF literature (Philip K . Dick, Asimov, Lovecraft, Wells ...), this new exploration subject of Christophe Charbonnel will, in fact, resonate with the dark and martial universe of Servitude.
