Presentation
Born in Paris in 1972, French painter Hom Nguyen is a self-taught artist who imposes an impulsive and lively style. Each of his paintings is a fight, the artist struggles with the material where desire is reflected, to reveal the deepest instinct of a human being through color.
In Hom Nguyen's pictorial research, constantly renewed and based on monumental portraits, Hom Nguyen proposes a metaphorical interpretation of the identity facing both representation and image. In that, he takes us far beyond appearances.
Each of Hom Nguyen's artworks captures the depth of the feelings and the complexity of emotions which overwhelm the human soul. The artist disorganizes with brush strokes and lines the facial expression leaving only an intense expressive look suddenly arising from the dense material. His subtle representations evoke the duality between visible and invisible, between material and immaterial. This is a constant quest, it is urgency, an insatiable desire to track emotions as accurately as possible. Hom Nguyen's intriguing painting is forcing us to think of what we are, what we are revealing of ourselves and what we are trying to hide.
