Artistes Japonais
Vous avez un faible pour l'art japonais ? Né sur une île isolée, l'art japonais est longtemps resté à l'écart de la société occidentale. Dans sa version traditionnelle, on voit souvent des estampes sur bois (ukiyo-e), des rouleaux suspendus (kakejiku) ou des rouleaux à main illustrés (emaki). Le plus souvent, ces œuvres d'art comprennent également une calligraphie (shodo). Ces médiums sont des caractéristiques distinctes des arts traditionnels japonais. Parmi les artistes célèbres, citons Utamaro et Utagawa Toyokuni. Mais l'art moderne et contemporain japonais est aussi explosif dans le monde de l'art d'aujourd'hui. Ce qui était autrefois une entité isolée, est devenu une denrée très recherchée. Des artistes tels que Takashi Murakami et Yayoi Kusama dominent la scène artistique en créant des œuvres radicalement différentes. Sans aucun doute, ils contribuent à la prospérité du Japon et de l'art japonais.
Depuis le succès de Superflat, un mouvement d'art contemporain fondé par Takashi Murakami, influencé par l'anime, le manga et la pop-culture japonaise, les artistes japonais ont envahi la scène artistique mondiale avec des œuvres empreintes de la culture contemporaine.
L'art japonais se distingue par sa grande diversité. Certain artistes, comme Yoshitomo Nara avec ses dessins d'enfants et chiens aux grands yeux naïfs, conservent l'aspect sensible et fragile de l'art traditionnel ainsi que la thématique de l'innocence. D'autres ajoutent à leur art un important degré de provocation et d'éléments érotiques. Yayoi Kusama et Yoko Ono, toutes les deux provocatrices, ont débuté leurs carrières d'artistes pendant les années 60 à New York en travaillant respectivement avec les mouvements Happening et Fluxus.
D'autres encore s'intéressent à l'histoire de leur pays, la pop culture ou la société de consommation. Ryoko Watanabe, par exemple, s'inspire de stéréotypes japonais comme les Geisha qu'elle intègre dans des paysages modernes et urbains.
