Pop culture Street-artistes

S'il naît dans la rue de façon modeste, le street art s'est peu à peu développé, devenant un élément clé dans l'espace public et le marché de l'art. Alors même qu'il divisait à ses origines, il a depuis atteint un certain pouvoir, voire une responsabilité : celle d'unir les spectateurs. En effet, dès lors que l'art urbain s'empare de sujets issus de la culture populaire, il devient accessible à tous. La culture populaire, ou « pop culture », rassemble toutes les références communes, partagées et familières à une société donnée. C'est l'exact opposé de ce qu'on l'on présente habituellement comme de l'art, souvent complexe et élitiste. L'artiste Efix, par exemple, incruste les Simpsons dans les rues françaises en détournant des éléments déjà présents, comme des tuyaux, devenus un saxophone pour ses personnages. Pour les street artistes, les sujets sont multiples et les références infinies : du sport aux stars de la chanson en passant par les dessins animés et les bandes dessinées. Depuis la fin des années 90 jusqu'à aujourd'hui, le street art nous renseigne sur les héros sportifs que les street artistes vénèrent (comme Jimmy C et sa peinture murale d'Usain Bolt), mais aussi sur les artistes à qui ils rendent hommage (comme Jisbar et ses détournements de la célèbre Joconde). Sans oublier les marques et les objets qui les fascinent (comme dans le travail d'Onemizer) et bien sûr tout ce qui les rend nostalgique ou leur rappelle leur jeunesse, comme dans le travail de Nacks.
