Aotearoa or "land of the long white cloud" is the Maori name for New Zealand, a country where the author has lived on multiple occasions.
From the point of view of graphic detail and contrast, this series focuses on the volcanic nature of the island and the alternating of the mineral and vegetable worlds. The island’s original nature manifests itself spectacularly in the volcanic landscapes or in the principle forests, and at the same time increases their tourist attraction and their potential impact. In Maori culture, earth is a common good shared by everyone: this ubiquity of the “wilderness” questions its necessary protection.
On the other hand, the mixture of colors, lines and subjects of the four fundamental elements (earth, water, air and fire) achieves a delicate balance in the composition of the artist's photographs which takes the viewer into a quasi-abstract harmony of universal dimensions.
