Biography
Olivier Suire is a painter and drawer, born in 1951 in La Rochelle.
He studied in La Rochelle before leaving for Tours and training in publicity drawing, with Jean Abadie. He then turned towards engraving, and worked with Pierre Gandon, Albert Decaris and Caillevært Brun.
His initial works are marked with a surrealistic atmosphere, based on dreams and evasion. It's an invitation to travel and an ode to sea.
As a drawer, Olivier Suire creates illustrations for Clifford Simac and Assimov's texts for the Louis Pauwels's account. During this period, the exhibitions follow one after the other and brings him fame in France and abroad.
But in 1982, he makes a drastic change, he sketches his work and opens up to color. The themes are combined with a new style, he devotes himself to nature, portraits, though he still remains attracted to the sea, as it's his origins. He then leaves Paris and moves to La Rochelle again, and goes to Ile de Ré, where he currently lives and works.
A true traveler, he goes around the world doing exhibitions in USA, Japan, not to mention Italy and Morocco.
