Biography
Luciano Fabro (Turin 1936 - Milan 2007)
After spending his childhood in Friuli, he moved to Milan in 1959. Starting from the positions of Arte Povera, he immediately stood out for his singular ability to use obsolete materials, obtaining particular results in the definition of the image and working with artisanal techniques. Between 63 and 65, he made works in glass, partly mirrored and partly transparent, and others in light metal tubes that highlight the shapes and materials as simple, bright and dynamic vehicles. Very common gestures such as measuring the diameter of a pierced fabric or cleaning the floor and then covering it with newspapers become works of art that are even followed by a certificate of authenticity. His first solo exhibition took place in 1965 at the Vismara Gallery in Milan. In 1967 he participated in the first Arte Povera exhibition at the Galleria La Bertesca in Genoa. A few years later, he began sculpting the series of Feet, which he reproduced in various forms using artisanal techniques of working with marble, bronze and fabrics. In the 1980s, he created works called Habitat because These are "comfortable places". He has participated several times in the Venice Biennale, the Rome Quadriennale and the Documenta in Kassel. Numerous solo exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
