Gabriele de Santis was born in 1983 in Rome, the city where he still lives and works today. He graduated from the University of the Arts in London in Visual Arts. Through several mediums (painting, installation, video), he questions the various contemporary supports and vehicles that could develop in our capitalist and globalized society. We often find in his works slogans exploring the themes of mobility, speed and ascent, showing the fact that despite this weightlessness triggered by consumption, we do not escape gravity, making these states inaccessible. In addition, it often refers to the world of sport to demonstrate its point, by taking up its social codes and its framework. He also uses contemporary symbols linked to digital: hashtag, emoticons… He associates these fluctuating and ephemeral signs with stable and tangible elements, such as marble columns, to show cultural roots and conservatism.
