Biography
Born in 1985 Agathe David pursues a demanding practice of drawing. After her training at Decorative Arts in Strasbourg, she trained in textile design at the La Massana school in Barcelona. Attracted by ancient practices, she proceeds with tiny touches, point by point in pencil with dry point.
Agathe David's pictorial work carries with it a strong dreamlike dimension, mixing real and wonderful. His drawings are most often the result of mental images close to dreams, the fruit of a game of incessant shifts between contemplation and imagination. Stories, myths and religions are a great source of inspiration to him, both iconographically and philosophically. Influenced by the universe of cabinets of curiosities and chambers of wonders of the High Renaissance, her work allows her to forge close links between different universes that might not meet, (naturalism and the marvelous) in order to tell a story reality transfigured by the imagination.
