Biography
Born by the sea in southern Spain, the influence of light shines through in her works. A passionate artist, she drew for as long as she could hold a pencil.
A portraitist par excellence, each face is a world for her, from the smallest detail of leather to everything it is capable of expressing. She explores them to transpose them into her painting.
Maria's work is based on simple poses, seeking an intimate and personal result. Her work reflects her reality, drawing her main inspiration from her surroundings. This is evidenced by the central role her children now occupy in her work. She uses color as a tool to convey emotions, while her work is bathed in light and makes powerful use of chiaroscuro.
A graduate in biology, she turned to art in 2009. She began her artistic studies at the Prado Studio in Madrid. In 2011, she worked as a copyist at the Prado Museum. In 2015, she graduated as a higher technician in engraving and stamping from the Cadiz School of Art.
Her artistic work spans diverse fields, from contemporary painting, where figuration is often emphasized, to illustration and printmaking. She constantly explores new avenues, seeking to perfect her painting and integrate new techniques.
