Biography
Born in Menton in 1952 (Alpes-Maritimes, France), he lives and works in Switzerland. His workshop is located in Chambrelien, canton of Neuchâtel. His work has been expressed through painting, engraving, ceramics and stained glass creations since 1984. Wind, loneliness, reverie and poetry resurface in his new works.
"In the 1970s, I worked for the archaeological service of my region, on the excavations of the Neolithic, our ancient lacustrines of Lake Neuchâtel. And I had the chance, one fine morning, to update a magnificent pot in earth, finely executed. Without knowing it, this discovery will lead me 50 years later, to work clay earth myself. Bottles and flasks have taken their place in my artistic imagination. This new technique of shaping clay makes it possible to concretize my new inspirations."
Jean-Marie Bidet received a silver medal in the Mixed Media category at the XII Florence Biennale in October 2019.
