Leszek Rózga - drawings, graphics, gouaches
Warsaw From October 29, 2021 to November 4, 2021
Hence the references to Greek mythology, hence the biblical themes, hence the love of travel.
The professor can tell stories about history in an amazingly beautiful and passionate way. He spoke passionately about the weaknesses of the Greek gods, about the beauty of olive groves, about the majesty of Etruscan sculptures - and about the masters of the Renaissance. These themes were also found in his graphic and painting works.
The artist traveled a lot. The main direction of these peregrinations were the Mediterranean countries. He was fascinated both by the landscape, its light and colors, but also by the creative potential of places. Greece and the Apennine Peninsula were not only the cradle of civilization, but also the aesthetic source from which artists of all ages drew, as Herbert wrote.
Professor Leszek Rózga was born in 1924. In the years 1940–1945 he was employed in forced labor.
After the war, he stayed in Duisburg and Mülheim an der Ruhr in camps for the so-called DPs. There he worked in an amateur theater and studied private painting and drawing.
In the years 1948–1954 he studied at the State School of Fine Arts in Łódź, where later, among others, he was deputy dean of the Faculty of Graphics.
In 1979 he obtained the degree of professor. He practices graphics, drawing and painting.
His works are in, among others in the graphic collections of the Hermitage, the National Library in Paris, Albertina in Vienna, and the World Bank in Washington.
