May I come in ?

Paris From March 24, 2022 to May 29, 2022

Presentation
The Parisian Gallery of Géraldine Banier hosts from March 25 to May 29 a personal exhibition entitled “I can enter? ” by Italian artist Marco Cordero. Cordero has been exploring, for many years, forms and borders of human presence in the world, through a lateral look that brings together sculpture, research on materials and symbolic dimension in an innovative and original approach that uses knowledge and culture as matter. expressive and content of artistic devices. From this perspective, the book, as a material support and symbol of knowledge, becomes an object of intervention on which the traces of human presence in the world are deposited. The books are, in fact, assembled, burned, hollowed out and sculpted by the hand of the artist to give shape to sculpture-installations which become both stratified semiotic devices - capable of representing in an iconic way human actions in relation to spatiality - and allusion to this encyclopedic content which tends to coincide with human cultures themselves.

If, in the poetics of the artist, the paper medium becomes sculpture material, in order to highlight the traces of human action and the sedimentation of social and anthropological interpretations that appropriate things to transform them into reality , the cultural content inscribed in the books becomes a full allusion to a symbolic universe capable of holding together form and becoming, idea and matter, flow and structure. In the spaces of the Gallery, designed as the private residence of Géraldine Banier, we attend an exhibition thought out in such a way as to privilege the intimate and relational dimension through a selection of works installed with the intention of making them become sediments of biography and spiritual, family, social and political autobiography of the author, Géraldine Banier, the collector and the visitor. The works, in various forms and materials, will, in fact, constitute a narrative capable of exalting both singular individual stories and the reference to a collective human dimension made up of family, friendly and emotional relationships that are sedimented in works, which are so many traces of slices of life, hopes, emotions, knowledge and possible horizons.
