Stefan De Jaeger
Belgium • 1957
Presentation
He made his first exhibitions in 1979. Then, despite his success, disappeared from the scene for about fifteen years, to travel, reflect, look, discover, internalize, and reappear a little over five years ago. It is these same aspirations, with this same instinct, that basically go through different forms of visual expression on various media.
In fact, he can't help it. He can no more stop renewing himself than he can stop throwing on the canvas everything that affects him, touches him, matters to him, what he feels, whether immutable or ephemeral.
Anything that translates into space, a palette of nuances, bold colors, brushstrokes that might appear simple, easy, except that they come from deep emotions that had to be refined, synthesized to harmonize on a canvas. Canvas that takes on meaning both for him who produced it, and for the one who will seize it.
He is also shy in the fact that it (the canvas) might not be understood, might not be recognized as generosity, a real interest in the other and what he feels, and not only as the expression of her sensitivity to him.
