Presentation

Born in São Paulo, in 1972, since he was a boy he showed an interest in drawing, already showing great skill with shapes and proportions. He started painting at the age of 9 and never stopped, as a self-taught, early showing his talent for painting. As a teenager, he began to teach with oil paint, in 1987 he opened his studio, where he had his own students.
Academic, Maramgoní follows the line for a while, until he comes across the need to break barriers and seek new lines. Using a personal preference, he begins to study architecture, more specifically Greco-Roman architecture.

It doesn't take long, the question arises: why not portray the local architecture?
And so, Maramgoní begins his series of works about São Paulo in the 19th century, portraying the Anhangabaú valley, Avenida Paulista, the Altino Arantes building (Banespa), among other famous addresses and landmarks in the city, in acrylic on canvas – having based on old photographs, history books, etc.

Maramgoní offers his vision of art through a work that takes the city universe as its starting point. Each new image is a process of consolidating her painting in the world and her affirmation to establish her own language, lyrical in its best moments, abstract, in the sense of posing questions, and urban for having in the buildings and in the city the subject that stimulates the its creative matrix.
Following a natural path, his art matures, and the technical challenge and his visceral relationship with paints and canvas leads him to other challenges.
“More than discussing art, the artist needs to be involved with what he does, mainly in the aspect of seeking technical improvement and a line of work that satisfies him as an aesthetic research". – says Maramgoní.
