Leiga

Leiga is an artist orginally from Sao Paolo, he creates rigorously positive pieces. He spent his childhood in Guarulhos and felt in love with street art in 1994. In parallel to his assiduous practice of skateboarding, he sketched his first lines practicing pixacao in Brazil in 2012. He graduated from the School of Art and Desgin of the School of Sao Paolo, the artist started his career working for an advertising agency, a job that perfectly coincide with his use of colors which has played a main role in his artistic practice.

Graphic design, advertising as well as fashion are the pillars of his work. His work has been strongly influenced as well by street art artist, Tinho, in his unique practice of typography. The artist offered him to paint beside him, action which propeled his career.

By the end of the 2000s, he started practicing graffiti and experimented doing it on the streets. Being a fine scholar in design, his familiarity with the notions of space, construction, dimension...... are the pillars of a successful and complex work. Complexity follows the colors he astutely applies. His art oscillates between figuration and abstraction and the combination of both. During the creative process, the artist increases his spontaneity and inspiration by listening to music. Leiga calls his style "bubbles" as the "internal part of an an object or abstract proposition in which the observer sees his own illusion". "My work represents a fall into a liquid world", and the spectators, tumble, with delight in his liquid, surreal and euphoric world.
