Presentation

Brendan Backmann aka "Kay One" was born in 1970 and is one of the pioneers of the Parisian graffiti scene. He painted in the streets of Paris from the age of 15 and became part of a street culture where he rubbed shoulders with other artists such as Mode 2, Bando and the famous NTM crew.

In 1993, he left for London where he was invited by Judy Blame, artistic director, stylist, and punk figure of the English scene. It is at this time that he will really deepen his research of the underground avant-garde. The artists he met there influenced his search for the essential, which he applied to his own creative work while continuing to write in the street and DJ in the clubs of Mayfair.

In 2001, Kay One returned to Paris and turned to abstraction as part of his graffiti production. His graphics became a tool for designing objects, and he applied the psychology of color to human activity in his productions.

This work in the studio becomes complementary to his urban production. He pursues the quest for accessibility of murals for all. In his path of wall design, it is for him to give life to urban spaces and to inscribe beauty in them.
